The introduction of the thesis presents Laudato Si’ as the ethical foundation for rethinking sustainability in the hospitality industry. Pope Francis’ encyclical emphasises integral ecology, human dignity, responsible leadership, and the moral duty to care for creation. The text argues that environmental degradation and social injustice are inseparable, making sustainability both an ecological and human concern. Within hospitality, these principles translate into dignified work, reduced stress, meaningful employment, and practices that counteract brain drain. The chapter outlines how hotels can integrate ecological responsibility with social equity through sustainable operations, ethical management, and community engagement. It also explains the thesis’ general and specific objectives, which include developing stewardship strategies, promoting dignified work, and fostering ecological conversion among employees and guests. The research design combines normative analysis, qualitative inquiry, and PLS‑SEM modelling to test how stewardship, dignity, and sustainability interact. Hospitality is positioned as a unique sector capable of embodying Laudato Si’ through daily environmental and relational practices.
