Dr. Rafael Robina earned his Ph.D. in Business and Sociology in 2002 and is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Extremadura (Spain). As a dedicated academic and researcher, he teaches Management within the Business and Sociology Department, fostering critical thinking and ethical awareness among students.
Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing knowledge in the fields of business ethics, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development, particularly within the tourism sector. He has authored a 102 research papers, of which 82 have been published in prestigious international journals. His publications have appeared in renowned academic outlets such as Elsevier, Springer Nature, Taylor and Francis, Wiley, Emerald, REIS, MDPI, Frontiers in Psychology, and IEEE Access, among others.
In addition to his articles he has written several influential books focusing on business and environmental ethics, as well as sustainable educational and human development in companies, particularly within the tourism industry. These works are highly regarded for their practical insights and academic rigor.
He is also an active participant in the global academic community, having contributed to more than 100 international and national conferences and 50 seminars held in diverse locations, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Portugal, Guatemala, Kenya, and South Africa.
Currently, he serves as the coordinator of the research group “DELSOS,” where he leads multiple European, national, and regional projects focused on behavioral changes related to tourism and business ethics. Since 2014, he has also spearheaded the Innovation and Teaching Project “GEEYM” (Teaching Business Ethics in Tourism Programs), which aims to integrate business ethics education into tourism curricula. This project emphasizes cross-sectional methodologies based on real judicial cases to develop practical and analytical skills among students.
